Meet the Coaches

The Primal Diet community was growing strong while Aajonus was alive as he made his circuit around the globe visiting communities, giving workshops, and doing consultations. He was in the process of creating a Primal Diet Retreat Center in Thailand where he could host clients, teach his iridology technique, and train Primal Diet coaches. You could call him from 10-12 PT to get your questions answered or run into him at a potluck.

All this came to a halt in 2013, when Aajonus fell off that balcony. The last few years, momentum has been building to revivify the Primal Diet Community. Several clients and students, whom have been dedicated to the diet, some for over 20-years, have come together inspired by the newer, eager, younger Primal Dieters, and rekindled the torch of Aajonus’. We are ready to pick up and carry the vision of optimal health forward now and into the future.

With nearly 10 years working in pharmaceutical and medical device sales, and over 20 years on the Primal Diet, I specialize my coaching in helping people understand the science behind Primal Raw eating. I also provide great suggestions on how to get started on the diet, which can be quite a challenging hurdle for many people.

My book, “Raw To Radiant: The Secrets To A Long Life Of Radiant Health” found on Amazon HERE is the perfect introduction to Primal Raw eating and includes scientific evidence from top medical universities all over the world that microbes, for which we have been told will harm us, are actually helping keep us alive.

When I started the Primal Diet seven years ago, I never thought I would be doing what I am today with PrimalDietCoaching.com. What started as making funny videos and documenting my eating habits led to a documentary that reached thousands of people, introducing Aajonus to many, some of whom have thanked me for exposing them to the diet and a pathway to better health.

I eventually grew tired of the old video format and pivoted to making no-flair vlogs and informational videos on my YouTube channel Eatrawmeat—Primal Diet Advice. I did this to share my knowledge and experience, as I had to sift and search for information to help with a few health challenges that were not well addressed in Aajonus’ works, particularly insomnia and tinnitus. I continue to document and experiment with Primal Diet protocols and recipes to provide insights to those who are interested.

A few years ago, Phoenix reached out to me via a former client, and after a few discussions with him, I have been helping him achieve our goals and vision with Primal Diet Coaching.

So far, the highlight has been helping organize the Annual Primal Diet Conference. It is a lot of work, but providing a platform of positive connections for people in the blossoming Primal Diet Community has led to new friendships, relationships, and job opportunities and has been a tremendously rewarding experience.

Getting to know former clients and friends of Aajonus has been deeply encouraging; being able to see the results of this diet after many years reinforces the power of raw meats and animal fats. It is a privilege and honor to have these pillars of the diet involved and learn from them. As far as I know, this conference and community is the only place where you can learn from these expert veterans. I am grateful and honored for their involvement and the opportunity to learn from them.

I look forward to continuing to provide information from my learned experience and organizing events like these so that people can make fulfilling, genuine, and positive connections in our hyperconnected world that lacks these fundamental aspects of positive community interactions and belongingness.

Avyanna

Avyanna mentors individuals and couples who are committed to growing themselves and their families with the support of raw foods. She has been on the Primal Diet for over a decade and has learned how to overcome many of the physical and emotional challenges that come with change, healing and transformation. Her work continues to redefine cultural norms and challenges the status quo while building deeper resiliency, presence and courage.

Whether you are struggling to find a compatible partner, wondering if your current partner is the right fit, hoping to start a family, want to optimize your health for conception, struggling with infertility, wanting support in navigating preconception, pregnancy and postpartum, have questions about unassisted birth or raising a primal family, Avyanna’s personal and professional experience is a treasure trove of knowledge. Her preconception process inspired a body of work called the Art of Creation, which is a synthesis of the intentional journey that Phoenix and Avyanna embarked on together.

Avyanna is as a licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist, Spiritual Counselor and Higher Alignment Relationship Coach who specializes in deep listening and personalized care. Her offerings include but are not limited to Fertility Massage, Prenatal and Postpartum Massage, Shamanic Breathwork Facilitation, Process Art Integration and the Wisdom of Inner-Seeing. She also works with in-home hospice care clients, providing Palliative Massage at the end-of-life.

Bereavement Massage is also available to family members who have lost or are facing the inevitable loss of their loved one’s.

Avyanna co-owns Blossom and Be Wellness Retreat with her husband, Phoenix. They work diligently to grow wholesome food, raise a vibrant child and growing homestead, provide mentorship and guidance to their communities, all while developing the foundation for a Primal Diet Healing Center and Farm School.

I’ve been experimenting with diet since I was 21 after reading a book called Awaken the Genius. In the book, the author explains how to open your mind to reach your fullest potential. At the end of the book he talked about eating a clean vegan diet. It made me realize that something was not right with the way that I felt and it didn’t make sense for me to feel tired after eating. I would catch myself staring and daydreaming all the time. I read the ingredients on the food I ate and it just seemed crazy that I was consuming all these chemicals. I decided to try that and eat as healthy as I knew how at the time for a week to see how I felt. Back then I ate the same as everyone else, but after eating this way for a week I felt so much better that I decided to eat a vegan diet from then on. I picked up a few books on vegetarianism and learned more.

After 3 years of eating a clean vegan diet I bought a book about eating a Raw Vegan Diet and that made a lot of sense to me so I tried that diet. I only ate raw organic fresh fruit, vegetables, and nuts. Some amazing things happened when I did this diet! All of my senses clarified and became sharp. I felt like I sobered up, a fog was lifted off of my mind, I became more conscious, I felt a sense of depression fade away, I felt an inner peace, and my self-confidence was raised.

But the drawback was that the food I was eating did not have enough calories, fat, or protein to be sustainable. I was very thin and experienced lowered stamina when doing physical activity. My muscles would burn and felt weak when I rode my bike. After 10 months on the raw vegan diet I found that I was hungry all of the time and felt like I could never catch up with my food intake needs.

I began researching raw vegan information to figure out how to solve the issues that I was having. It was recommended to eat more vegetables or nuts or certain combinations of foods, but none of these worked. I searched and searched on the internet and I eventually came across an interview of Aajonus Vonderplanitz online. I liked being vegan so I thought he was crazy haha! I knew I was onto something with this rawfood stuff, I just wasn’t getting results with the vegan path so I thought to myself “Maybe humans are supposed eat meat.” I bought his book We Want to Live in 2005, which describes the Primal Diet, I tried his diet full on. I gained strength, stamina, put on healthy weight, and became more amiable. Plus I maintained all the clarity of mind benefits the I had eating the raw vegan diet.

I have been eating this diet for the last 19 years. Every year I am feeling healthier than the year before it!

Hi, my name is Tom.

My son, Hoyt, is in the picture next to me. I am 57 years old. I have been on the primal diet for about 26 years.

It was introduced to me through a friend, Phoenix, at a place called Earthaven, (of which I am a founder of) in western North Carolina, where we both lived at the time.

Earthaven, an intentional community on 320 acres of wooded undeveloped land, required lots of labor to get underway. Manly tree felling at first. I had the skills for the project from being in construction since a teen. The enthusiasm came from the need for a life style change through an alternative approach. The Primal Diet was ideal for me (optimal health, more stamina, quick recovery from injury). And no cooking. Which I didn’t want to waste my time on anyway.

Aajonus actually came to visit back in the day. Back then there were more Primals in the community than now.

A highlight of my life is the birth of my son. His mom was introduced to the diet when she met me and included (certain parts) into her diet. Hoyt is a living example of the benefits of the diet. Bottle fed on raw milk. He eats raw eggs and meat. But not always. He’s a thriving young man, and adapts to all kinds of situations. I’m eternally grateful to Aajonus and Phoenix and all those those who are spreading the word.

Three epiphanies that have come to me in my midlife are:

1) The myth of contagion 2) the heart is not a pump, and 3) it’s none of my business what you or anyone else think of me.

I can share what I know and how it’s helped me.

Firstly, a big congrats to anyone exploring PrimalDietCoaching.com looking to take control of their health!

I can assure you there is no one more qualified for that job than you!

With a few basic rules of the road you’ll be set for life! I’m truly honored to offer assistance to anyone who finds that concept appealing…

A little background info: 20 years ago I graduated from the school of hard knocks. It was a 3 year journey of extreme fatigue coupled with weight loss, ultimately down to 78 pounds! (not so hot for a 5’9 male human)

After 18 months of looking for answers from mainstream medicine and not finding any, I felt it was time to look outside the box and explore the world of alternative health.

After another 18 months of intriguing but only partially beneficial stepping stones, I learned of Aajonus Vonderplanitz and his Primal Diet, an omnivorous raw diet that especially emphasizes the importance of raw animal foods. Within a very short time of being on this diet I realized I was finally about to graduate from Hard Knocks University! My body grew from approximately 80 pounds to 170 pounds of athletic weight in a mere 8 or 9 months. I could finally go outside and play again!

I was a new man!

In 2000, I had my first consultation and hosted Aajonus’ workshop in Asheville.

As fitness trainer, bodyworker, and Ayurvedic Health Consultant, I was angry to find out that 8-glasses of water a day, a bunch of herbs, and eating lean meat were not strategies for building health.

Now I’ve been eating raw meat, raw eggs, and raw dairy for over two decades and seen the benefits of the Primal Diet for myself, my friends, my family, and my clients.

My wife, Avyanna, and and I had an unassisted, natural home birth and have raised our healthy son entirely on the Primal Diet.

We are grass fed beef meat and dairy farmers in Southern Appalachia, creating a Primal Diet retreat center and school centered around our farm to connect and support others on this journey.

Other projects include:

  • Connecting others on the Primal Diet to learn, share resources, and support each other on this healing journey
  • Creating the Primal Diet Conference
  • Writing Primal Diet and health articles
  • Updating PrimalDiet.net making members experience more user friendly and intuitive

  • Publish a handbook/curriculum for clients and coaches
  • Create a natural food, clothing, and home products supply chain
  • Promote and translate Aajonus’ books and audio recordings
  • Fundraise for farms and food sovereignty projects

All our coaches have been peer reviewed by our group and are capable of serving unique populations and addressing distinct problems.
